About the BSA (Blaauwberg Spatial Association)
Inception / history
In 2022 The City of Cape Town completed its revision of the Municipal Spatial Development Framework [MSDF] and the eight District Spatial Development Frameworks [DSDFs] including the Blaauwberg Sub-area 3. The purpose of the Spatial Development Framework is to guide future planning and development for the area, ensuring that all development proposals submitted to the city are in line with the City’s vision of Hope.
With a view to ensuring more local detail for managing development, the Big Bay/Bloubergstrand community, under the leadership of their Ward Councillor Paul Swart, successfully motivated to the City of Cape Town for approval to initiate a Community Driven Planning Initiative (CDPI), with an outcome being a formal Local Area Spatial Development Framework. This will provide significant direction for the development of the large agricultural area Erf 1117, which is included in the Framework.
The BSA has representatives on a joint steering committee, with city officials from the Urban Planning and Design Department, who are involved with both the CDPI and LSDF processes. The committee includes the Councillors for Ward 23 and Ward 107.

The CDPI [Community-Driven Planning Initiative] is our best chance of influencing how the project area including erf1117 and our beachfront gets developed. Please help us see this through to completion by making a contribution to the BSA.
